Understanding the game and planning the product

We played the submarine game with each other one more time to understand it better and identify useful elements. Then, we played the game with an elderly population to understand what is most relevant from their perspective. We realized that one standing board is less convenient, but the game is easy for our target audience to learn quickly.

After learning the game, we tested it by recording on WhatsApp to see how it feels when you have to listen to the other side. After a conversation and consultation with our mentor, Asaf Mashiach, we refined the product and understood its requirements better.

Conclusions:

Product Requirements:

- We need submarines in the following quantities: 3 small, 2 medium, and 1 large.

- An 8x8 board.

Technical Requirements:

- We decided to have 3 buttons: a record button, an audio button, and a send button.

- Recording: A button that, when pressed, allows the user to record their move and indicate if there was a hit by the other player.

- Listening: A button to hear the recording from the other user.

- Submit: A button the user presses after finishing their turn and recording a message for the other user.

- There will be an LED indicator to show whose turn it is. If both LEDs are yellow, it is player A's turn. If the LEDs are blue, it is player B's turn.

In addition, Lidan and Itay wrote the flow of the game in pseudocode for the product.

We decided that the boards should be attached and not standing. We arranged to meet next week to start prototyping the product.
